Migration

One of the main goals of Canadian migration is to welcome skilled migrants who will contribute to Canada’s growing economy. Skilled workers who settle in Canada on a permanent basis are especially valuable to Canada’s economy and add to the strength of its workforce.

As a Country that boasts breath-taking scenery as well as first-rate urban life, Canada is one of the world’s most visited tourist destinations. Owing to its size, many Canadians choose to holiday within the country, with eye-opening cities such as Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal to visit, as well as the stunning scenery of Niagara falls and Gatineau National Park.

Canada is also a member of the Group-8 countries which ensures a certain status in the developed world. It also offers the most supporting social security benefits program for immigrants and their families – first on landing and in normal process. The country’s educational and health facilities are among the best in the world and highly subsidized. Post retirement and old age benefits ensure that one looks forward to growing old and is not dependent on their children. During the economy downturn, the country’s unemployment allowance policies help its residents to feel and live better. Finally, Canada offers a corruption free environment that is among the least polluted in the world.

As a skilled worker or professional, you have several options to consider. For example, you can either apply under Canada’s Federal Skilled Worker Class. In addition, if you know in which province or territory you plan to reside, you may be able to submit an application through one of the provincial nominee programs. Below, you will find a list of those programs for you to explore.

  • Federal Skilled Worker: This program is for individuals with certain work experience who intend to reside in any province or territory outside of the province of Quebec.
  • Quebec Skilled Worker: Applicants who plan to immigrate to the province of Quebec may be eligible to submit an application through this program.
  • Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Most provinces and territories have created their own skilled worker programs for those intending to live and work in their particular province or territory. These are fast-track Canadian immigration programs that allow candidates to receive a provincial nomination certificate. In most cases, a nomination certificate will allow candidates to immigrate more quickly than through other Canadian immigration programs.

On becoming a Permanent Resident in Canada you receive certain rights and privileges, even though you remain a citizen of your home country. A permanent resident and their dependants have the right to receive most social benefits that Canadian citizens receive such as

  • Free health care assistance for the landed immigrant and their dependent family members.
